VIC Intellectual Property Law - Is Photocopying a Whole Textbook Allowed?

I am a college student and textbooks are very expensive and we barely use the whole book for the entire semester.

I am asking if it is legal under intellectual property law to photocopy the textbook but only for personal usage? And is a photocopied book (a whole book and not parts) allowed if it is only kept at home?
