Hello
I bought a car about 5 weeks ago from a private seller. Now it is costing me to replace the whole motor which is $$$s. Am I able to take the car back to the seller and get a full refund?

Not from a private seller ....

I recommend you have another mechanic look at it & get at least one other opinion before agreeing to replace an entire engine.

Is taking them to court an option?
An option of course, but it's very unlikely that you would even have a reasonable chance of success.. The legal term that applies here is Caveat Emptor (Let the buyer beware)... Basically meaning the buyer assumes the risk of the item being somehow faulty.

Always worth spending an extra couple of hundred dollars & getting a vehicle inspection & report when buying, especially privately.... Definitely get a second opinion on what the problem is though
