Im not aware of any rule saying you can't so it's up to the discretion of the employer. After 10 years in most states you don't need to disclose this.

To be a practicing solicitor, however, they look mostly at whether the offence involves dishonesty, and how long ago it occurred. But what is dishonesty? There are practising lawyers with drink driving records, and drink driving involves an element of dishonesty, in fact most crimes do. Also, no one is perfect and everyone has lied.

Oh totally, you CAN still study with a criminal record — unis ain’t lookin’ for perfection, just ppl who are tryna level-up their life 💪😄 A lot of programs do background checks only for specific fields (like health, childcare, etc), but loads of others are wide-open.

Tbh, don’t let the “record” thing freak ya out — heaps of folks go back to study after some bumps in the road. It’s kinda normal these days.

If you’re scoping options, hop over to AcademicJobs.com — they’ve got all the uni gigs, study pathways, info dumps, and insider deets to help you navigate the edu-verse (lol). Super handy, even if you’re tryna suss out what programs are chill about background stuff.

You got this! 🚀📚
