Hello, I would like to enquire about my rights to reserve any medical information that is over 7-10 old although quite poignant at the time, now has no impact or relevance in my life, but could jeopardise potential employment in the Australian Army. I would like to know what kind of medical information the Australian military are entitled to and if their is a time frame where my medical history is deemed irrelevant ? Thank you kindly

Hi Karhoded,
Have you received a Medical History Questionnaire (MHQ) from the Army yet as part of your application process?
Have you reviewed the "Medical Process for Candidates Applying for Entry into the Australian Defence Force" information sheet?

In summary, the MHQ sets out the questions that you are required to answer as part of your application.
It is important to be honest and detailed when completing the MHQ. Ultimately, the Army is assessing you to understand whether you have the physical and mental aptitude to protect Australia's interests in extreme situations and conditions.

If you have concerns about your medical history, it may be worth taking the time before you complete the MHQ, to instruct your GP/specialist doctor to write supporting letters to your assigned Recruitment/Nursing Officer to explain any potential issues with your medical history.

I hope this helps. Please keep us updated as to your progress.
