Hi,

I am administrator of a Facebook group (organizing motorcycle trips around Sydney). Recently I blocked a member because of his numerous posts complaining about group rules, unwanted posts that generated trouble among users, etc.

Now he send me request to remove all his posts from the group, or else.
That is very hard to accomplish since group has 400 members, many posts and Facebook doesn't offer this feature.

I want to keep those posts because they will break the whole conversation thread (where other users were involved) and is good to have them for future disputes.

I am not lawyer, but he has to obey Facebook T&C, everything that he posts becomes public.

These are Group T&Cs
1. This group is about Motorcycle Adventure Riding around Sydney.
Will include road and gravel road riding. Not suitable to super-sport motorcycles.

2. You may join this group if you have an adventure motorcycle and live in NSW, close to Sydney.

3. This group will not tolerate chit-chat, violence speech, spam, un-wanted advertising.
Any topic that can lead to insults will be deleted (Ex. topics where ppl state that brand X is better than brand Y ... you get the point).

4. Group creator is not responsible if members will post copyrighted or illegal materials. Members are 100% responsible for their own posts and attachments.

5. Sydney Adventure Riders or person who organizes events/trips are not responsible for participants behaviour or their accidents. Every participant must have a valid license, road-worthy motorcycle and will be 100% responsible of his actions.

6. This group promotes the idea of creating events and inviting members. Posting images from not advertised events (on event list) is not encouraged since every member should have the opportunity to participate

Any advice?

Thank you

Hi Baiazid,

Now he send me request to remove all his posts from the group, or else.
The 'or else' aspect of his reply does indeed sound like a threat. Please print your web browsing page when you're on Facebook and this message is visible. It will be crucial evidence if this does escalate.

I don't see how his actions were against the groups T&C's as he was simply being a nuisance. However, if he was disrupting your group then you're entitled to remove him as you are the administrator. You could even remove him from the group without any logical reason.

I'd suggest you search the Facebook T&C's and attempt to find a provision he was in breach of.

To answer your question directly, I do not believe you're under any obligation to remove the messages. In your best legal interest, ensure his messages are not used to defame or harass him via your group.
