I found out about through a GIPA request, and I had asked the agency for the information before. It was never given to me, so there was no way I could have done anything about it. I looked up limitiations online and it looks like it is one year, then a three year possible extension with cause. Is there anything I can do? I can prove that the information was requested from the agency and that they concealed it. Really upset about this one. Help appreciated.

Defamation looks like it off the table due to the limitation period.

What else may be possible depends on what happened. Have you suffered any losses or damages as a result of the information?

Enormous and ongoing losses. Truly devastating and really disturbing -- financially professionally, personally, socially.

If this issue is related to your other posts I suspect you are going to have difficulty finding a cause of action.

I'm unclear if there is a breach of contract or some kind of tort that may have been committed. Have you sought legal advice?

it is tangentially related to the breach. I can establish a cause of action, as I have a clear trail of motives. Please tell me what I can do.

What you do is related to what you want. What do you want to happen?

I do not know what is feasible. What I want involves a public apology and an indemnification from the damage done, including a large transfer of money.

The same phenomenon has occurred on other forums I have visited. Someone with legal knowledge (probably a lawyer) will ask me what I want, i.e., what my goals are, and when I respond they will counter in one of two ways.

1. Evaporate.
2. Try to shame me for seeking some sort of recompense.

It has happened enough times to rule out coincidence.

You are beyond the assistance of anyone on a forum. You need a lawyer who can go through the details of your situation to work out if there is a chance of a claim. I suspect your claim may have some merit but not enough to morph into a good claim. Unless you can find a pro bono lawyer I don't like your chances.

Sometimes life is not fair, but it doesn't mean you have a legal claim against someone. There comes a time from a practical viewpoint where you should let go of the past and concentrate on the future.

You do not have enough information to speculate on the merit and I did not ask you to. I asked you what was possible.I just received a great deal of information in the form of a GIPA request that I am still going through. You do not have any idea what is there and as such your judgement of any possible merit is premature. I decided to try to find out what was possible before deciding next steps (such as seeking an attorney or dropping it). I came here, but got the usual wet blanket.

Your next post isn't necessary. I already know what it says.

Meanwhile, if anyone could tell me what the possibilities are (as opposed to probabilities) I would appreciate it.
