How do I negotiate a reasonable amount of overtime in a contract for a new job on a salary? Ie. Not wanting to work lots of unpaid overtime
First thing to do is ask the potential employer what they consider a 'reasonable amount' to be and note it down. If their definition of reasonable matches your definition there is nothing to negotiate.
If there is a mismatch, explain your circumstances and tell them you don't want to work 80 hr weeks and see what they say.
