Hi,

My partner and I had a venue booked and a deposit has been paid. No paperwork was signed and I have had no contact (I have tried to call and email) from the venue since I paid the deposit. Now as this is for the biggest day of life, I think it's unacceptable and would like to go to a more well-known venue.

Question is as I haven't signed anything, am I entitled to ask for my deposit back under Australian Consumer Law?

You can certainly ask.
Understand however that mere change of mind, or loss of confidence in the supplier
do not always and automatically amount to grounds for a refund in the event of a cancellation.

Is it possible that the venue has gone out of business?
