I purchased a second hand vehicle in January 2019 from dealership in NSW. Vehicle is 2014 model with 68,000 klms. Manufacturers warranty expired in 2017. Dealers guarantee commenced 17/1/19. I reside in Vic. When attempting to have Roadworthy Certificate issued for Vic Registration of vehicle, defect detected in rear tail light assembly. Local specialist dealer in Victoria diagnosed and quoted replacement price for part as unit is sealed LED and internal fault cannot be repaired. Dealership in Sydney insisting vehicle be returned to Sydney (600klm trip each way) so that fault can be "diagnosed" and repair attempted. Additionally, dealership claims that quoted replacement part is 'too dear' and can be sourced by them cheaper however, have refused to source part and freight same to local specialised dealer (in Vic) and pay for fitting of part to vehicle. Am unable to effect Vic Rego of vehicle without Roadworthy Certificate and 3 month period from time of sale fast approaching, thereby ending statutory dealer guarantee. I am required to register vehicle in Victoria within 3 months of purchase however this cannot, at this time, be done without replacement of tail light assembly. Additionally, leading up to and at time of purchase, and contained within documents provided at point of sale, vehicle represented as being a 2014 manufactured, '15.5'MY vehicle which has now been shown as incorrect. Vehicle is in fact a 2014MY. No NSW Roadworthy Certificate information provided within Form 5 Dealers Notice at time of sale. I have recently established that both front Hydro Bushes of the vehicle have internally collapsed and require replacement. I am informed by the manufacturing companies Head Office that this is highly unusual for a 5 year old vehicle with limited kilometres. Can you provide advice please on where I stand with regard to having warranty repairs to the tail light and Hydro Bushes carried out?
