I have signed a contract which guarantees a minimum of 25 hours per week plus OT. It includes benefits such as holiday and sick pay and superannuation.

However for whatever reason, last week I was only rostered on for 20 hours. Now, this week I have been paid my usual 25 hours into my account. And I have just been told that I will be working 2 or 3 hours over time but not getting paid for it since i "have already been paid for 5 hours I didnt work last week", same for next week until the 5 hours is "paid back". Something doesn't seem right to me. Is this how that works? Then why have a guarantee at all?

re you covered by an award? If so, which one?

Some awards allow averaging over 4 weeks.

And someone will need to read the contract in full to answer your question.
