My dad recently was admitted into a nursing home.
They agreed upon charging a daily fee in the intrum while services vic evaluated his assets.
This took about 2 months, they chose to charge him the lowest daily fee for this time, and now when its come to light he has valuable assets and centrelink wont be contrubiting to help him anymore the home told him they were refunding him everything he paid in the past month and reissuing a bill for 10 times the amount he paid, and demanding it to be paid within 24 hours.
They are also trying to push him into selling his assets and paying them the full amount up front rather than the 'rent' he was wanting to pay.
Is any of this allowed? I dont think, if it was an agreed upon amount, going in they can backsies and charge him the highest amount possible because they saw dollar signs.
