Is there a major difference between accredited and unaccredited lawyer? In other words, is the accreditation determine how the barrister is good and specialist in certain area of the law? Also, for a criminal matter that not too serious, yet a bit complex, is it enough to find a “clever” unaccredited lawyer or better to look for accredited barrister?

The Law Institute accredit solicitors who undertake specialisation. Barristers have no similar program. I would start with a criminal law specialist as this may be all you need.
