My 55 year old wife was banned from Woolworths 4 days ago for not giving the checkout out person all the bags in trolley she was stopped and advised she had not paid for all the item. There was 3 bags from other stores in the trolley and out of sight was some items from woolworths she returned to checkout and paid for the items. Staff issued banned notice. I called Woolworths to inquire about the issue and was advised they will now involve the police since I made inquiries. Have I done the wrong thing by asking them about the issue and what will happen now

If banned, then that means the person is not allowed to enter the shop, if so, police can be called.
If this was an honest mistake, taking the age into consideration, you can go to the management and explain it was a mistake and pay for the items. If not, then there is nothing to be done. Just stay away for the specified period.
Make sure you don't go to other Woolworths, as the ban applies there, and police can be called.

All items were paid for as soon as this issue was raised, I have spoken to the manager on my wife's behalf and explained that we have been shopping at this store for 20 years and I assured him that this was a mistake as she must have not seen the Woolworths bag with the ADLI items and other store items that were also in the trolley as she is blind in 1 eye, but he was quite aggressive and said she is a shoplifter and since you have asked about this issue I am going to forward it to the police. So I called the police and there is no record about this issue so far, so am I going to expect police on my door step one day in the future to arrest my wife. As for banned my whole family will never ever shop and any Woolworths owned stores again. $40k per year that's my fine to them...

All I can say is that there are heartless people in the world, and taking it from the side of view from the Manager, there are a lot of people who lie to the manager so to not to waste time, he follows the same approach with everyone, I am not defending him, but this is what I think happened.

From your side now, don't worry about the police coming as no on put a compliant, and don's shop in Woolworth again. Word of mouth is a very powerful weapon, you can spread the word around, it may not make much difference to Woolworth, but it will to the manager, and what goes around comes around. Believe me, this does happen.

I had a friend that was banned from Woolworths, so I did some extensive research on this unless you steel, physically abused a staff member, smash up goods or the store, use weapons, Woolworths cannot ban customers from the store, unless the put it in writing, they are in breach of the Australian Retailers Association code of conduct, also rang the police, police can't enforce it, if you don't have anything in writing, from Woolworths Head Office, don't give them out your details. Simply go back in don't be afraid my friend did, 2 days later, and has been back in since, no one questioned her, she has been back several times since, no one has approached her, they have forgotten all about it, we need to stand up to Woolworthsm they can be bullies.

Woolworths contacts is a closed entity, you can only talk to the Customer experience centre If you do get banned from Woolworths, the law states, unless you get a letter in writing from Head Office, they can't ban you or call the police, when this happened to my friend I rang the police to enquire they said that they can only do something if it's in writing, do what my friend did she went back in no one challenged her she's been back several times since, they've allowed her back in so can't stop her now if they were serious they would have said something to her. We need to stand up to Woolworths, and not let them bully customers
If anyone wants the CEO's email address after much research I've found if [email protected] maybe bombard him with emails about this bullying, it's not right. Woolworths are going against their customer service code of conduct, which states treat CUSTOMERS, team members, and others with dignity, courtesy and respect, they are not adhering to this, Woolworths is also in breach of the Australian Retail Association Code for banning Customers it also states, that the ban must be in writing. Woolworths are too fond of intimidating customers.

I just posted something about this I rang the police to enquire, they cannot come but can't do anything as Woolworths, have not give you notice in writing from Head Office, they don't have your address so, they can't issue you a notice, Woolworths won't listen, as far as I know the ban does not apply to other woolworths, my friend went into another Woolworths, nothing was said. This is also on the Australian Retail Association code, is states police won't do anything unless, it's in writing. All my friend was loudly challenge a price, it exploded from there not good.

I've done some extensive research on this, as a friend of mine was supposed to be banned from a Woolworths store, under the Australian Retailers Association, they cannot ban you unless they put it in writing from head office, simple don't give out your details, police won't come unless it's in wiritng

After much searching I've found the CEO'S email address [email protected] hope this helps, keep emailing him till he answers. Woolworths are also in breach of their customer service charter, if you Google Woolworths Customer you will get a PDF copy, refer that as well about page 3-4 you should find it. Go back in no one should challenge you, I went back in with my friend we've been in about 6 times in the last 2 weeks nothing has been said.
