Our son breached a procedure and his employee stood him down with pay. He was warned at the initial meeting with his manager to keep everything confidential. He is a member of the AWU and they have been his representative in the investigation. He has been very honest and admitted that he did the wrong thing. He's attended a number of meetings and has come away quite shaken with them claiming he's breached other Safety procedures (which he totally denies). The initial meeting was grueling and the Manager called the union rep informing him that the findings were not good and they would ask that he has the option to resign instead of dismissal. He mistakenly took this as really bad and that he'd be dismissed for sure. At the latest meeting the Manager said that he'd breached confidentiality because he had left a facebook messenger work group messenger saying "That's it fella's, it's been great working with you for the last 3 years". He didn't deny that he'd posted the comment. Does this class as breaching confidentiality? There are still more meetings to come.
