I am a fifteen year old girl, and my parents want to share photos of me as a child/baby with friends. I really don’t want them to and they won’t listen, is it legal for me to refuse or for them to share without my consent?
Thank you!

The photos are the property of your parents, not you. They can use the photos as they see fit (with some limitations such as child porn, defamation etc) and do not need your permission.

No different to celebrities who sometimes have unflattering photographs appearing in trashy magazines.

There are likely to be future events more challenging in your life than having photos shown to friends. Rather than becoming indignant or upset, use this as a growing exercise so you become more resilient and stronger as a person. What they do is their choice, but how you react is your choice.

This isn’t legal advice but sometimes calling a youth/teen helpline is useful to work through your emotions and identify what’s at the root of your concerns. They have some excellent counsellors who give really helpful advice and it also just helps to tell someone neutral how you’re feeling.
