I want to get a binding financial agreement, and one of the lawyers I'm interested in using is interstate. I would like to use them because they're highly recommended and are a lot cheaper than my local lawyers.

Is it a requirement of the BFA that the client meet the lawyer in person, or can communications just be over the phone?

Or would it be a bad idea to hire an interstate lawyer for some other reason?

Also, there's another lawyer I'm interested in my state, but they're too far to drive to. Would they be a better option?

Or is it a bad idea to hire a lawyer that you're not going to be able to meet with in person?

Thanks!

It may be best to call then directly and ask if they will actually take carriage of your matter first. Some lawyers will take a client regardless of distance, and some won't.
