What is the difference between a case number and a court number?

In filing a defence to a complaint form 5a in victoria, the form 5a refers to a case number whereas the proper basis certification refers to court number.

I would appreciate any clarification on these differences.

Generally it's just the different way that individual courts refer to their matters. If you want to be correct, take it off any official court created document for that matter. If you don't have anything like that, look up a template for creating that particular type of matter in that court and see how it describes it.
