I was caught on camera trying on sunglasses and I accidentally wore the new pair out of the shop and left the old behind. The new sunglasses were valued at $300.

It was my first offence. She has posted my picture all over Facebook so I felt it was defamation and embarrassment, otherwise I would of just taken them back. No charges have been laid as yet, what should I expect?

Defamation, no, since the accusations are true. You're not going to fight a charge with the 'whoops I forgot' excuse, particularly now that you're aware of it. If I were you, I would return to the store, apologise, explain the mixup, offer to compensate for the loss given the sunglasses are no longer new. Chances are Police won't charge you and if they did you would appear remorseful. This would mitigate your punishment.
