I've had my GP sign off unlikely to work within ETE (whilst doing the application form). I am not sure if my Psych will agree TPD on Friday (I am 37, off work 2yrs). If he doesn't agree what options do I have? Organising my own IME or ask the fund to book an IME?
Thanks!

Hi Tia82 - thank you for the question.

As you know when making a TPD claim, you need to complete 2x medical certificates. One to be completed by your GP and the other by a specialist. Now if you believe your specialist isn't understanding your bipolar situation then I suggest you should organise to meet with another psychologist. Your insurer will most likely not accept your claim until you have provided 2xmedical certificates.

Once you give them 2xmedical certificates then it's up to the insurer to either organise an IME for you or ask further questions from your psychologist.

Either way you will need to provide them with a medical certificate signed off by an specialist (ie; psychologist). Therefore you can either request your current psychologist or if you are not comfortable with her then I recommend finding a new psychologist and get them to sign it off.

I also suggest for you to get some advice from a TPD lawyer in relation to the above as not providing medical evidence properly can affect your TPD claim.

I hope this answers your question.
