Hi,

I am writing this on behalf of my son who left UK to go to Melbourne since December 2017.

He is working for a company doing plastering etc on three month probation. The company is amazing and he loves the work. He needed to get a van for his work. Two weeks ago I transferred funds for him to purchase a van , he paid 4,500 for a van to a private seller now nearly two weeks in the van has broken down, the head gaskets have gone! Is there anything he can do?? The seller is not answering their phone, I think he has been ripped off?

Any advise would be amazing, my son can't work without a van.

Many thanks,

Siobhan

second hand vehicles don't come with any warranty. It is the buyer's responsibility to get a mechanic to check the car. Even then, if something goes wrong afterwards the mechanic won't be at fault.
