Serious Misconduct At Work

Hi All,

My partner was recently dismissed from their employer for charging personal expenses worth the value of $24,000 over the course of a year.
He has accepted responsibility and will pay the monies back over the course of a year.
He is unsure whether his employer will hand over to the police, they have not informed him.
If taken to the police what are the potential consequences he could face?
