Hi,
My husband is wanting a separation and today he's seeing a solicitor. Should I be worried that he will gain legal advice and perhaps try to set me up to say or do something that puts me in a financially bad way? This is a hard question to word properly. But basically I haven't seen a solicitor yet. Also how much should I pay for first initial consultation?

Any help is appreciated.

Interesting question.

Whether or not you should be worried isn't a call we can make on your behalf, but I do suggest considering legal advice of your own. Legal Aid offers free consultations for individuals going through separation, so contact them first. You might also be able to get assistance through a legal community centre. A private solicitor costs on average about $420 per hour. Some solicitors offer initial consultations for free or for cheaper, so ask around and see Get Connected with the Right Lawyer for You
