Asking for a friend. Joint asset car registered in 2 names. Cannot settle on a payout. Question..if neither party takes action...files for divorce..then hit 2 year mark with no "claim" against each other...what happens when the party in possession of car comes to sell it
..as u need 2 sigs on the document??? Can it be sold after 2 years without other party consent??

It should be noted OP has a vehicle worth 6500 which they also have a debt on now which is more than the vehicle...they can't agree on settlement of the usual asset minus liabilities...net position 50% calc....so are heading towards a do nothing by 2 years scenario

Not yet....but will as soon as they can..but the OP is just not agreeing to any offers and seems to think the calculation is difference in value of vehicles is paid to him I.e. 10k LOL which is NOT how it all works...so i envisage they will go 12 months to file divorce then another year with no claim on each others assets super etc. So question is what happens after that wrt vehicle in joint names
