Hi,

A friend of mine was shopping in a popular jewellery shop and being distracted by her children forgot she had 2 baubles in her hand. She hadn't left the shop before she was approached. Security was called who searched her bag, found nothing and so she was allowed to leave.

A couple of days later 3 cop cars arrive with 6 police and her place was turned upside down looking for 9 baubles she supposedly stole on the time mentioned above and a previous visit to the shop a week earlier. They said they have CCTV footage of her putting her hand in her bag on that occassion.

During the raid they took her engagement and wedding rings, other jewellery, all her handbags and childrens clothes because she couldn't produce a receipt for their purchase there and then. Some of the items are up to 15 years old and the childrens clothes both new and old. Interestingly the 2 bracelets she possesses that these baubles go on were not taken.

She has been told that regardless of the outcome of her case she won't be given her property back even though she has receipts.

Where does she stand in this issue? Will she get her property back? The police were really rude to her, can they get away with that behaviour?

Thank you

Di Matthews

Is there really more to this??
Of course police had a warrant yeah???
If this is what it is, her property definitely needs to returned, the person representing her would know this, so I don’t know why they said no, is there really more to this???
Anyway the answer is yes she should get her property returned, maybe your friend has stolen property without realising????? If the property is stolen your friend will be charged.
