Hi,
Unfortunately I'm being made redundant after 20 years of working for a large corporation; the termination pay-out includes max of 12 weeks plus 5 weeks of pay in lieu of notice so all together 17 weeks - industry standards ; according to the HR manual dated from the year I've started (2001) the termination payment were based on 5 weeks notice period given (or paid in lieu ) and 8 weeks pay for the first 2 years and 2 weeks pay for each year thereafter , capped at max of 52 weeks ; since I never signed up any new contract with my employer when the 'new' Fair work act 2009 was introduced can be challenged so the final pay to be based on the original contract ?

There's a very good chance the original redundancy provisions apply and worth fighting for.

Tell the employer your views and wait for their response.
