I purchased two sofas in late August from a major furniture retailer. In October I received an email stating that they had dramatically reduced the discounts for loyalty card members (from 25% to 5%) but they had reduced the price of some 5000 items. I purchased the two sofas as a loyalty card holder and paid $2,249 per sofa discounted by some $749 dollars.

The sofas are expected to arrive in mid-December. Post the email regarding the loyalty card program I checked the price only to discover that the sofas are now $1999! I paid in late August a credit card deposit of 60% - the rest will be paid on delivery. I'm yet to ring the store in question and prior to doing so I'd like to better understand where my rights fall on this topic.

My preference would be to have the store honour the new price.

I think you will have to rely on how much importance the store places on good customer relations rather than legal advice?
