    Hi,

I've just recently received a notice to pay $204 through civic compliance for the Australian electoral commission for failing to vote in a state election? I've never enrolled or have ever had anything to do with politics due to the lies/deception, etc. I've never been told that I was enrolled or anything till I got this nasty fine!

So I've rang the Australian electoral commission to find out what was going on. The man there told me that they got all my personal information from Vicroads again without my consent or knowledge! And had automatically enrolled me again without my consent or knowledge! But here's the thing. Vicroads gave the Australian electoral commission the wrong information as the address they read back to me was wrong! So I never received any mail informing me that I had been enrolled nor did I receive the first 3 notices for the fines! So they've finally fixed their bungle but I've now been hit with hundreds of dollars fine which I don't have and threatening me with taking my licence, selling my house and jail time!

This seems so, so wrong to me! I need some help. And the government wonders why I don't want anything to do with them! Cause my whole life they've only caused hardship and stress!

Pay the fine and vote from now on - it's law in this country to do so. Whether you agree with it or not is irrelevant.

Yes, I agree but, like I said they bungled my info and it's because of themselves that it has gotten to this! So what should I just lie down and give them all the occurring costs involved because of their own stuff up? Money, I don't have.

No wonder the lawmakers make ridicules laws in this country! Because people just to as their told like puppets! Whether the government\law is right or not!

Also if I had been notified that I was enrolled automatically I would've voted! Also, let's just say I was notified and I still didn't vote then I would've paid the first fine of $75 but because they were sending the fines to the wrong address it has accrued into the hundreds! This whole situation is morally wrong!
