I recently fell sick with a virus 2 days before the October long weekend. I took Thursday and Friday off before the long weekend as well as Tuesday off after the long weekend. I obtained a medicate for all 3 days. When I returned to work I was informed that I only had 1 day of sick leave owing to me so I would need to take the other 2 days as annual leave or as leave without pay. I opted to take 2 days leave without pay. I have now been informed that due to me taking leave without pay they would also be docking another days pay for the public holiday. Are they allowed to do this? It is not my fault my body decided to fall sick around a long weekend and I also had a medical certificate from my doctor for all absent days. What can I do about this?

You don't need to do anything right now. Because you already submitted everything to them. They will decide now what should they do.
