I bought an e-bike a bit over a month ago.

In that time - it has given endless problems. The pedal assist shuts off constantly. If there is any moisture on the ground the engine dies. Surely, by ACL standards a bicycle should handle the mildest of situations?

I politely asked for some help and I got the rudest response of my life. All I wanted were some tips and tricks.

It is my sole form of transport to Uni, and now I am sitting with a lemon. I had to use AfterPay just to purchase it, after months of deliberation.

Please, guys, is there any piece of legislation or policy that I can use to show these people that behaviour on that end of the spectrum of bad behaviour is not acceptable.

It would be nice to have a response to their cruel e-mail that was completely unwarranted.

I will be so grateful for anything you can help me with.

Assuming the bike was purchased as new ..... Probably a good idea to familiarize yourself with consumer protection laws that may apply in your case >>>>> Consumer rights & guarantees

If you can't reach an agreement with the seller to repair, refund or replace, contact consumer protection in your state for advice & direction.... Don't delay

Thank you for your response. I have made a complaint with the ACCC.

The bike was bought brand new. I treated this bike like a baby. I would not even ride over bumps - even though it has shock absorbers.

I had it professionally built by an ebike shop. All they do, all day, is ebikes.

When the problems started after a week - I brought it back. They took out some specialised tools and told me the product is defective. I won't go into the technicalities, but there is an absolutely key component that was dysfunctional.

In the email they (dodgy company) said I voided any consumer protections by riding in the rain. I rode many hours after a rain and, ya know, there can be moisture on the road. I never rode during the rain.

A bicycle that cannot be ridden in rain. Okay fine. What about a puddle from weeks ago?
