My x boyfriend gave me a car for my birthday.
He then took the car without my knowledge.
He got into a police chase & was sent to jail.... The car was impounded for 90 days.
The QLD police sent me the copy of the form Towing Authority for Impounding Vehicles with all the details.
I collected the car from the tow company after 90 days & paid all the towing & storage fees.
Ive now received an email from the police telling me to not sell the car as its under investigation.
My question is if it's under investigation why was able to collect it from the tow company?
Do i have any rights?
Can the police retrieve the car from me?
Im too scared to even drive the car now.
I am a female in my 20's with no criminal record.
I have never been in trouble with the law so I don't know who to go too for advise.
