I am in the process of re-doing the garden and am stunned to find that a few forums are stating that a cactus I may-purchase could be illegal in certain states. I am in NSW.
The cactus is San Pedro cactus. Have done some research and found that there is a lot of conflicting information. Many websites state that it is legal to own and grow for 'ornamental' purposes and illegal for 'consumption'.
Have tried finding the law to confirm but cannot find anything.
The family style nursery that I am about to buy it from said it is completely legal to own and grow but want to make 100% sure its fine.
Who would have known this would be a potential issue.
