I would like to ask if it is legal for a services provider to request a medical certificate for the same day, within a time limit. They have stated that if I do not submit it by 4 PM, they will assume I am lying about being sick, and it will most likely affect my livelihood and payments.

However, I am very ill and unable to get to the Dr's office, let alone cart the medical certificate all the way to the provider, which means they are making an unreasonable request for medical proof.

When you say 'provider' are you talking about a Job Services Provider/Job Active Provider for the purposes of a Centrelink benefit?

In answer to your question - It's not reasonable to demand a medical certificate by 4pm. If they proceed with the unreasonable demands and threats, one avenue could be to lodge a complaint with the Department of Employments National Customer Service Line.
