Hi,

I have a few cars that I own that I want to lease to others while I am not using them. Can someone steer me towards the right legal info to understand if I need to establish a business and what kind of tax I will be paying?

Thanks

Here is a government site that can help you figure out what business licences you may need. ABLIS search results | ABLIS

I'm no accountant, but if you want to keep it simple you can probably just get an ABN and operate under your own name. If you want to use another business name then you will need to register it. You will be taxed on your personal income and then also what is earned under your ABN. You may want to discuss this further with your accountant.

Only the registered owner of a vehicle will be able to deal in it.
