Hi All, I have a court case some 1300km away, and filed the paperwork to appear by phone via the commsportal. The judges associate has since emailed and said that the request by both parties to appear by phone uplink has been denied. How does one get around this especially in a country the size of Australia...

That's all well and good if someone has a spare $2000 for flights, accommodation, rental cars, fuel, parking etc etc...

Once again the Federal circuit court shows it's not interested in resolving cases quickly and fairly, they are only interested in breaking people...

Assuming you have not tried any of them, the alternatives are
  • to send a lawyer to represent you, at a comparable cost; or
  • fail to appear, and risk default judgement; or
  • ask about the prospects of an adjournment due to the financial hardship of attending in person.

Thanks Tim I shall give those avenues a go. Starting with an adjournment, after lodging an updated affidavit on Monday.
