The matter was in relation to the dispute between me and my neighbour, and cross applications have been lodged on Victoria Magistrate Court.

My questions :

What will happen on the mention day ?

Can both parties present the evidence and witness on the mention day ?

Can I persuade magistrate to put interim order against my neighbour ?

What is the mediation process ? Does the mediation happen before or after the mention ?

Is a solicitor necessary on the mention day ? if so, how the solicitor can help me ?

There are no witnesses at the mention.
It is possible to get an interim order but this relies on need. A lawyer is preferable but depends on finances as negotiations might commence.
