I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this but my grandmother has been told she cannot stay at her property anymore due to her condition and the condition of her home. I haven't been able to find any clear answers online about what becomes of her estate and assets (home and savings) when she does go to an aged care facility / nursing home .

Whatever she or the person with her power of attorney decides.

  1. Told by whom?
  2. Nothing happens to her assets or her "stuff". It's still hers until she dies.
  3. Financial arrangements with nursing homes can be complex, or not.
  4. She would be well advised to make a proper will immediately,
and to appoint a Power of Attorney and an Enduring Guardian as soon as she can.
They don't have to be the same person.
