Hi I’ve bought a RAV4 second hand privately for my son.
It was stated by owner it was mechanically sound however, 2.5 weeks later oil light came on and two lights came up (engine and 4WD). Took it straight to a Toyota dealer and they are claiming it has oil sludge, unsure how bad the damage is. Have advised to do 3 services in a 2 week period to see if that pushes the sludge out. If not the damage is very servere, paid $10k, there are other mechanical issues as well at a cost of I total $2000 if the oil issue redeems itself otherwise $10k and car is off road!
