Hi,

My ex partner is taking liberty to withdraw my child from a specialist practitioner - psychologist - without my agreement. Where does that stand if we have orders of equal shared responsibility under Family Law?

Other may know more legally - but I would think because it is medical/health decision that both parties have to jointly consult and agree. Health does fall under a major long term decision

She discussed the issue with me, the clinic took it that she wishes to withdraw our son and have said for him to continue they require her consent. I would have thought they’d also need my agreement to withdraw.

So inform mum that you would like a second opinion.... And that you intend to take him to some other shrink...

No psychologist will see you without the consent of both parents. Consent already exists with the current one, although now Mum is deciding she doesn’t like what their recommendations are.

Mind you there is also an order within our consent orders that we are both to follow the recommendations of specialists.
