Yes. About to start court proceedings for property settlement. He hasn't lived in the house for 2.5 years. Now has come back. My solicitor says it will cost $7500 to lodge an exclusive occupation order. Seems quite excessive.

So a case IS already filed?

Then it should just be an application in a case.... Basically a form & supporting affidavit.... Your lawyer may be quoting you the cost of filing & arguing your case. Hard to say, but Lawyers aren't cheap...

May be worth getting a second opinion on your chances of success before going down that road

That price caught me off guard. We have an agreement to pay at settlement, but because we are now going to court , my solicitor is asking for some payment. I think that's why she quoted so high. Been trying to get a second opinion, but can't afford paying another solicitor. Thanks for the advice.
