My Husband and I started living together august 2011 married in August 2013 and separated April 2016. He had $380k which we used to purchase and leverage 4 homes . I had all the contents and worked full time during our marriage, he has gone to his lawyer and wants all 4 homes signed over as well as the ute I purchased . I took nothing out of the house when I left. 3 of the titles have his name on them and one has both of ours am I entitled to a settlement. He says no as I left him and did not initially come into the marriage with any money in the bank. He earns 3 time the amount I do.

Do not sign anything until you have seen a lawyer.

Chances are you have an entitlement to a portion of the assets. Chances are it won't be 50/50, but then it won't be 100/0 either.

Yes, it often is. Do not be concerned about being scared, it is normal to be scared or apprehensive when a marriage ends and you need to arrange a division of property. Just take it slow and work through the items one step at a time. Don't be bulldozed or rushed by the other side. Do what is right for you, and fair for both of you.

You are entitled to a settlement, but most likely it will be south of 50/50 given the information that you have given us.

Both of you will need an undertstanding of what the asset values are at marriage and separation, it could be the case that they have lost value?

Not sure which part of the world you are? But community legal centre normally offer 1 hour of free legal advice, this will not sort everything out for you but they will answer some of your questions and tell you what steps you need to take.

They should be able to give you the names of some private practitioners who specialise in your area that will sort it all out for you
