I thought I paid $1000 as the final deposit of an off-the-plan townhouse to the agency but actually I paid it to a friend with the reference of the details of the property in April last year. It was never detected until the settlement recently

My friend procrastinated after I sent him the transaction details. Is he liable for repaying this sum of money and what should I do about this debt?

Hi,
You could take this to a small claims tribunal and provide evidence that you mistakenly put it into his account and all correspondence between the two of you showing that you have asked for your money back and they have refused to give it back to you.
