I am asking for my dad who runs a residential cleaning business.

My dad has an employee called M of 3-4 years. M recently contacted my dad saying he will stop working for my dad but will be taking some of the residential clients with him. M established a relationship with those residential clients and has, to my understanding, been in direct contact with them.

Unfortunately, there is no written contract between my dad and the employee. I understand that is wrong and needs to be fixed for the future, but is there any legal action that my dad could take to prevent or dissuade M from just taking the clients away or come to the table to negotiate terms for taking them away?

Thanks

Yes. Chances are he'll need a lawyer to assist.

There is a breach of confidentiality, and a breach of their fiduciary duty.
