I have 2 daughters both under the age of 9. Their biological father does not see the girls. He is supposed to be paying child support but only claims that' he earns 8 thousand per year in his business.

I know he carries a lot of cash and earns way more than this. I have expressed this to child support but they still only get information that he earns 8 thousand per year.

To me, this sounds dodgy. Is there anything I could do, such as private detectives or something?

ok so private detectives might find something, but CSA might not accept it.
So lets assume they do accept he earns more. What then? Dad will find new ways to hide the $$...

Sadly, if a parent is intent on avoiding paying, then they will find a way.

Keep in mind that if you find anything, you should report it to both CSA and the ATO.

As Sammy said, CSA may not accept info that you provide on your own. But if the ATO conducts an audit and finds that he has provided false info on his tax returns, then the ATO's findings will always be accepted by CSA.
