I was wondering if I am employed as a casual senior employee and have regular shifts and one shift happens to fall on a public holiday, is it legal under employment law for my shift to be filled by a junior casual employee just so my employer can save money on wages?

Hi,

Yes I believe it is perfectly legal. Generally casual employees don't have guaranteed hours and usually have irregular hours. So while it may not be seem fair it is legal.
