I have a relatively new (and large) mortgage that I am paying from my wage. My husband only works part time when he can, and right now has no work, and so does not contribute to mortgage. We are both named as tenants in common, however. My husband of 30 years is an alcoholic who is constantly very drunk and has become increasingly verbally abusive since he lost his job. Can I force him to leave the house? I couldn’t afford both mortgage and rent if I leave and he couldn’t afford the mortgage anyway. However, he could stay with his sister for minimal board.

If you have a DVO for his abuse this could be helpful to apply for a sole occupancy order from the court. Seen this so often good luck!
