I recently demolished an old house that I purchased some time ago and discovered that the previous owner had buried asbestos in the backyard. I have estimated that asbestos would have already been ban and strict rules were starting to be policed we are talking around the early 90s it has cost me quite a lot of money to have it removed. My question is if I can locate the previous owner would I have any recourse. Any help welcomed

First of all, you'd have to do is prove that it was him who buried it.

I know that he had renovated the house I am looking for a legal opinion, I don’t want to waste my time if I have no recourse in the eye of the law, so let’s assume that he buried the asbestos and I can prove it.

If you can prove he did bury asbestos - yes, you will have recourse.

FYI: No-one gives legal opinions on these forums. You only get information and personal thoughts.
