To whom would a complaint about unfair treatment of a club member by the club's ruling body be directed under Australian Law? The committee of this particular club has directed that a member be ostracised (sent to Coventry) by all club members over an innocuous comment which did not suit the club president.

What do you mean by ostracised? On what basis are you alleging that the ostracism was unlawful? Is it discriminatory?

What happened is this: A club member (not me) wrote an article on the club's web page in which he described the current view of Albert Einstein as akin to religious fervour, citing that some people see him as a sort of scientific Messiah or Mohammed, when in reality many of his ideas have failed to be proven. And like many other revolutionary thinkers, his great ideas were developed from the thoughts and ideas of others. The council of our organisation took particular offence at this and this was their ruling:

The problems associated with the inappropriate email from Mr XXXXX were discussed at the last Meeting. The minutes of that discussion are:

· The Council consider that Mr XXXXX has used our chat page inappropriately and made comments that breach our guidelines and policies.

· The President will contact Mr XXXXXX and advise him that he has breached our-Chat guidelines and policies and that he will remain suspended from our-Chat until further notice. Mr XXXXX will be given the opportunity to respond to the suspension and any response from Mr XXXXXX will be considered by the Council at its next meeting.

· The President will remind members that any inappropriate use of Chat should be reported immediately to the President or Webmaster.

I have already contacted XXXX and advised him of the Council decision.

He has also been asked to immediately remove members email addresses from his computer

Additionally, Mr XXXXX has been advised that any unsolicited emails received by members from him will be reported. Persistent use of those email addresses will result in our organisation reporting the abuse to his internet service provider for their action. Should these emails persist, the Council may take further disciplinary action.
