In 2012, I bought a new Mercedes Benz v8 which has had tapping noise in the engine from the get go. On the first service, I reported it but they said they couldn't hear it. It progressively got louder and on the second service, they said they would fix it. They said they pulled the engine down and fixed it.

They had the car for a week. The noise was still there and they said they couldn't do any more. Now the noise is loud. What should I do under Australian Consumer Law?

Hi Tony,
Five years is a long time to put up with a problem. It's hard to say what can be done. I can only assume there may be some defect associated with the noise. Its probably at the point (if the dealer wont do any more) that you contact the office of Fair Trading. The next step from there is an application through QCAT.
