Hi,

I have been an MR in the past for my career in the Gov't. I wrapped up employment in that field in early 2019 and have not been in any MR fields since.

My question is, as an ex-MR, am I still obliged by law to report any concerns or not?

I am unable to find anything within the Children and Young Persons (Care and Protection) Act 1998 No 157, section 27, to say that MR's cease responsibility upon completion of duties.

*Please note, the reason for asking is simply for educational purposes and not for any concern for welfare, as I would have called 000 if that was the case.

Thank you.

Without knowing or looking at any specific provisions, it’s hard to say. However, generally, if a provision says for example, ‘a registered nurse is a mandatory reporter’, then once that person is no longer a registered nurse then the obligation should fall away.
