A debt company bought a debt from a bank which is under my previous name over 5 years ago and which was listed previously on my credit file. It has just recently dropped off. I was paying this debt until Dec 2015, but can no longer afford it. I last spoke to the company in Nov 2015.

A company is now calling and using my previous name when asking to speak to me but as I have legally changed my name. I am refusing to identify myself under my old name.

As I have changed my name, am I still legally responsible for the debt? Can it be relisted on my credit file?
